Hallowe'en Dance 1888

This is a programme of entertainment for patients at the hospital 120 years ago on Hallowe'en. The entertainment was provided by the staff including the asylum choir and the asylum band and individual members of staff (Attendants shortened to Att) and also the Medical Superintendent Dr Cox. The main entertainers amongst the attendants seem to have been Harnaman and Humphreys (both were male attendants). 108 male patients and an equal number of female patients attended as well as 40 attendants and friends and the entertainment went on from 7pm to 10.25pm. Coffee and buns were served at the interval.

This kind of entertainment was provided regularly especially on special nights.
